Amnesty International has called Swedish privacy advocate and digital security trainer Ola Bini a human rights defender for his work with human rights groups, journalists and social movements.
We are currently witnessing a global trend in the persecution of digital security researchers and trainers. In this outputs-focused convening, we will strategize with leading groups around our key asks of governments to ensure that digital security trainers such as Ola Bini, are recognized and protected as human rights defenders for their work to ensure the human right of privacy.
We’ll share an update on Ola’s case, discuss its important implications for the IGF community, and then brainstorm strategies to ensure the protection of human rights defenders more broadly.
